not like that...
In September 2002, Peter
Ellis and Anita Parry
started an education project for young people at COMART (East Brighton
College of Media Arts).
Since then TAB has been working alongside teenagers at the school to produce
a devised theatre project based on their own experieneces, scripted by
Josie Melia. Josie was responsible for Six
Inches of Travel, a previous project with students from Marina
High School (as COMART was then known).
In addition, Peter has been working alongside the Anita and Josie to produce a short documentary film documenting daily life at a "failing" school, where the participants are camera crew and director as well as being the subject of their own video.
Performances were organised for the Nightingale Theatre in Brighton in front of an invited audience and at the inaugural Young Peoples Drama Festival in Eastbourne in June 2003. The feedback from these were very positive and underlines the value of helping young people find their own voice.
