Beijing
for Lunch
by Darren Tunstall
"China
is not just another big player: it is the biggest player in the history
of man." - The Prime Minister of Singapore.
Beijing for Lunch tells of an American businessman whose life is destroyed
by an erotic obsession; an enigmatic woman forced to survive in the vicious
underworld of the new China; and a soldier whose fate is bound up with
them both.
Currently in development, the play came about after Darren's trip to China
with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2001.
Documentary cameraman Marc Francis travelled to Beijing in October 2003
and brought back some stunning images for video projection in the final
production.
