"How far would you go to defend your beliefs?"
A
new play by Sara Clifford to commemorate the 400th anniversary
of The Gunpowder Plot. The play is set in a Sussex town
in 1606, the year after the discovery of the plot and
life for ordinary people is fraught with secrets and suspicions.
Two brothers struggle to conceal their religious and political differences,
as the very first bonfire celebrations reach a frenzied climax
.
The
contemporary parallels with the current War on Terror are
all too apparent in this timely play, which receives its premiere in a
promenade production at Chichester Festival Theatre
on 27th August and 8th September followed by an autumn
tour.
