Looking For Christian
This new play was researched and developed over a period of six months, culminating in two showcase performances as part of Theatre and Beyond's programme for the Brighton Festival in May 2000. Looking For Christian explores some of the potential for digital arts and video use in text-based theatre.

Developing the play:
Looking For Christian was initially presented in our Bleeding Chunks programme in Theatre and Beyond's pilot project at The Old Market in May 1999. At that point , it was clear that the idea for the play necessitated a collaborative writing process which brought a video artist into the development process early on.

Jane Finnis at Lighthouse was approached to recommend an artist who works with new media. TAB was introduced to Victoria Baker who developed the visual style of the piece with director Maria Pattinson, and shot and edited all the video footage.

Throughout the R&D, which moved through five drafts of the script, the collaboration involved the entire production team - playwright Craig Vaughan, digital artist Victoria Baker, director Maria Pattinson. composer Joe Young and actors Jennifer Hamilton, Nigel Betts, Tony Portacio.

The later stages of development, leading towards the showcase presentation, engaged the skills of a visual artist, a cartoonist and an additional actor, Jason Pitt.
